Identical? Fraternal? - © 2008 three channel installation
As the Computer Resource Center/ RECYouth (Reel Education & Communication for Youth) coordinator at Hamilton Fish Recreation Center (NYC Parks & Recreation), Nicole Jaquis was one of the co-teachers for the MIX ADT video program. Her experience working with the ADT students during their pre-production phases inspired her to make a piece of her own.
As a multimedia arist, Nicole's photography, installations and video theatrix have been exhibited throughout (the playa in) Black Rock City, New England, New York City, New Delhi and Goa.
Identical? Fraternal? is the first biographical piece she has created. Displayed at the MIX festival as a three channel video / photography installation using archival (super8 and VHS) footage from their childhood and still photographs as adults, it explores the fraternal gender identities of an set identical twins (the filmmaker and her sister).
