planing ahead for 2010, Haridwar

The next Kumbh Mela will be between March and April, 2010 in Haridwar.

I will be resuming my Ascetics with Cameras program during this time.
Anyone interested in joining me, are welcome. Anyone able to help support this project will be greatly honored (in my pujas) and in my thoughts (as I take my holy baths alongside Juna Akahra Sadhvis)!

The Kumbh Mela dates are determined via planetary alignment, over 4 overlapping 12 year cycles, rotating between four locations (approximately every three years- in Nasik, Ujain, Haridwar and Prayag (Allahabad).

When Vrihaspati (Jupiter) is on Kumbha rasi (the constellation Aquarius) and Surya (Sun) is on Mesha rasi (the constellation Aries) then a Purna Kumbha occurs. If one takes a snan (dip) at this moment in Gangadwar (Haridwar) he or she receives more enlightenment than circling the earth many times.

This next Kumbha Mela will begin on Maha Shivaratri ?? and will end on April 14.
Below are some of the dates for the sahi snan (holy baths) for 2010 (more dates will be posted later):

1) Samvat 2066 Phalgun Krishna Pakcha 14 (Chatrudashi) or ?? February 2010 the day of Maha Shivaratri – Sanyasis/Sanyasins only;

2) Samvat 2066 Chaitra Krishna 30 (Amavashya) or ?? March 2010 – Sanyasis/Sanyasins and Yogis/Yoginis only from the Akharas;

3) Samavat 2066 or Tuesday April 14, 2010;

je serai bien evidemment a cet endroit, pour quelques instants magique!!je vais louer une bicoque pour l,occaze, les guest house etant hors de prix pour l,occaze, de nombreux amis sont conviés aux festivités, alors welcome home, jai ganga mata ki!!!

je pense venir vers le 8 février à Haridwar sans rien réserver comme logement.
