Nicole Jaquis is a new media artist and teacher, committed to empowering others to utilize various multimedia technologies to explore and share personal stories, ideas, differences and commonalities, in the pursuit of transcending both geographical and cultural boundaries. Since 1998, Nicole has taught (youth, adults and seniors) various forms of multimedia within technologically marginalized communities, for non-profits, the D.O.E. and other city agencies throughout Boston and NYC, as well as in rural areas throughout Northern India [for her ascetics with cameras program]. Her curricula inspires and empowers others to make use of video, audio, photography, journaling and the internet, as a venue for story telling.
Recently (December 2007 - January 2010) Nicole was the Computer Resource Center / RECYouth [reel education and comunication for youth] Coordinator and multimedia teacher at Hamilton Fish Recreation Center, in the Lower East Side of NYC.
Currently she is in North India, teaching taching ascetics (Hindu nun/monks) to make movies about themselves and their culture.
